Ā

A fabulous 50's Don Loper of Beverly Hills coat in a soft butter-yellow wool with a plush, brushed hand. The wide notched lapels fall into a wrap front, and a long self-fabric belt ties at the waist. The sleeves are three-quarter length and are gathered into deep cuffs, which gives the coat an elegant, dramatic shape. Below the cinched waist the coat opens into a full, swingy skirt with deep side pockets. The coat is lined in warm golden rayon crepe, with a woven Don Loper Beverly Hills label at the neck. The sunny color is hard to find in a 1950s designer coat, and this one is in beautiful condition. Freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.Ā

A little about Don:

He also decorated the new ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1947. His fashion salon, which took over William Haines's space, moved to 152 Rodeo Drive in 1951. His clients included Lana Turner, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Ella Fitzgerald and Lucille Ball. He played himself in the 1955 I Love Lucy episode "The Fashion Show."
