A elegant 1940s evening cape in soft ivory herringbone wool. Dramatic scrolls and florals are worked in twisted gold metallic cord and filled with plush cream chenille loop-work, with tiny rhinestones scattered between the motifs like sparkling stardust. The design cascades down the front opening and forms a dramatic pointed medallion across the back yoke. Closes at the neck with a hook and eye. Lined in ivory satin and labeled with Jelleff's orange woven heart-and-bow tag, from the Washington, D.C. specialty store that outfitted the capital's society women. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
