A beautifully constructed 1950s cocktail dress in black silk. The wide scoop neckline and three-quarter sleeves are elegant from the front, but the back plunges into a deep V. The bodice is cut with a softly draped surplice wrap that gathers into a ruched cummerbund waist, and the drape continues down the hip in a swirl of gathered folds. The showpiece is the full, flared peplum, which floats over a slim fitted pencil skirt underneath. The result is a sculptural, ladylike silhouette that moves beautifully. It is a timeless little black dress with real drama. Zips up the back with original metal zipper. In overall excellent condition. Freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
