A glamorous survivor of postwar Hawaii’s golden age of resort dressing, this three-piece ensemble was created by Betty Higgins Originals, the celebrated couture boutique operating exclusively from within the legendary Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach — a provenance that places this dress among the most glamorous souvenirs the mid-century Pacific could offer.
The ensemble is fashioned from brilliant Chinese silk brocade of exceptional quality, its deep peacock-blue ground alive with an all-over chinoiserie landscape of pagodas, weeping cherry blossoms, and windswept pines rendered in shimmering silver, tangerine, blush and gold. 
The strapless dress is cut in the sarong tradition, with a fitted structured bodice and a sleekly draped skirt that gathers into a dramatic cascading side ruffle. Completing the ensemble is a sharply tailored cropped bolero jacket in the same magnificent brocade, featuring a wide pointed collar, three-quarter sleeves with turned-back cuffs, and a nipped waist that transforms the look seamlessly from poolside cocktail hour to polished evening elegance.
