 Absolutely spectacular 1950's ballet pink silk satin evening gown with pink velvet appliqué florals and iridescent sequin and seed bead embroidery. The sweetheart neckline is framed by matching floral embellishment, with a second garland of blooms sweeping across the hip in a dramatic inverted V — a hallmark of late 1940s–early 1950s construction. The fitted bodice gives way to a full circular skirt with elegant flare. Back zip closure. A one-of-a-kind custom design in the true couture tradition. Fully lined interior. In very good condition overall, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. 

*About the label: Norwin and Isabell Gerhart were known as the fashion king and queen of Houston. Their store, Isabell Gerhart, was a Houston mecca for fashion-savvy socialites, established in 1946.  The glamorous couple traveled to New York several times a year and were known for their business savvy, style, and Texas-sized personalities — igniting their fashionable reputation when the Shamrock Hotel opened in Houston in 1949, bringing gowns to Houston’s elite for what is still considered the biggest social gala ever held in the city.  Isabell and Norwin knew every major designer of the mid-to-late 20th century — Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Pauline Trigere, Ceil Chapman, Bill Travilla, Carolina Herrera, and many others — hosting them as personal guests in their home.   The boutique was considered “the” shopping destination for international travelers and locals alike seeking couture and custom designs  until it closed. Pieces bearing the “Custom Designed” label are true one-offs, made in-house to order.
