A wonderfully glamorous summer dress from one of my favorite 50's Miami labels Marjae.  A sleeveless full-skirted sundress in dusty mauve polished cotton printed with an abstract expressionist pattern: cascading chandelier-like motifs, ribbon swirls, and painterly dabs in pale blue, pink, lavender, chartreuse, and white against the deep purple-grey ground. The print has real artistic ambition for a resort label — less novelty cotton, more studio abstraction. The silhouette is textbook 1950s: wide square neckline, broad straps, fitted bodice with darted shaping, nipped waist, and a generously gathered full skirt that works beautifully flat or floated over a petticoat. The polished cotton gives the skirt excellent body on its own, but add a crinoline and it becomes a proper party dress. Sparking rhinestone buttons decorate the back of the straps. Zips up the back with original metal zipper. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
