A rare and radiant example of Jazz Age Parisian dressmaking, this sleeveless flapper gown is hand made in Paris in warm amber colored silk crepe, its bodice left unadorned to let the fabric’s soft sheen speak for itself before the eye drops to a dazzling explosion of hand-beaded Art Deco motifs starting at the waist. Swirling scrollwork, geometric bands, and stylized  forms are worked entirely in fine steel-cut beads and glass bugle beads — the beadwork growing more intricate as it cascades toward the asymmetrical, draped hem.

The waist is defined by a pair of gently gathered self-fabric tabs trimmed in matching beadwork, a quiet, sculptural touch typical of high-end 1920s eveningwear. The scoop neckline and armholes are finished with a fine beaded edge, and the back falls in a soft, draped panel that continues the cascading beaded design from the front. Slips on effortlessly over the head. 

Most remarkably, the dress retains its original label: “Bab — ‘la robe de jeunesse’ — Hand Made in France, Paris,” stitched in black on cream grosgrain — a rare survival that firmly anchors this piece to its Parisian origins. In overall very good condition. Clean and ready to wear.

Condition:  very good overall, especially for its age. Remarkably sturdy and wearable.  Minor signs of wear typical of age including some minor bead loss on the rear end of the dress- most likely the result of sitting down in. Some minor discoloration and bead loss at the underarms, only noticed upon inspection. A few tiny pin size holes on the back at near the shoulder.  Wears and presents beautifully. A rare, collectable piece.
