Deep navy wool hand knit, circa late 1940s, in a richly textured stripe achieved by alternating a dense stocking stitch with rows of open lacework — the result a subtle tonal pattern that reads as shadow stripe from a distance and reveals its intricate construction up close. The silhouette is quintessentially postwar: dolman sleeves with a squared, batwing drop merging seamlessly into the bodice, a deep shawl collar with a crisp V-opening, and a flared A-line skirt that swings beautifully from the hip. The original knit belt cinches the figure with authority, preserving the dress’s proportions exactly as intended. Slips on over the head with an elasticized waist. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.

Condition: overall excellent, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. Minor signs of wear typical of age. Very faint discoloration on some of the ribbon striping. Only noticed upon close inspection.
