A thoroughly enchanting example of 1950s American occasion dressing, this sun dress is rendered in a lustrous silk printed with an exuberant all-over pattern of soft, painterly florals scattered across a cream ground in a jubilant palette of sherbet tones — coral, marigold, periwinkle, rose, jade, and lavender. The blossoms appear almost impressionistically rendered, as though dashed onto the cloth with a fine brush, their edges softly blurred and overlapping in a manner that recalls a sun-dappled cottage garden in full summer bloom. 

The fitted, boned bodice is cut with a graceful scoop neckline and slender self-fabric spaghetti straps, providing both structure and a clean, polished line through the torso. The waist is sharply defined, the skirt releasing into deep, generous pleats that sweep outward into an extraordinarily full silhouette — clearly designed to be worn over a billowing crinoline petticoat, the silk coming alive with movement at every step. Practical and charming side pockets are discreetly set into the skirt seams. The back closes with a center zipper. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
