"Femme Fatale" 1950's Documented Demi Couture Cocktail Dress By Harvey Berin / S
š A B O U T
Ā
Inky black silk chiffon, a sweetheart neckline in Chantilly lace, and a bodice "etched" in pale pink: this is the demi couture masterpiece from my favorite design duo Harvey Berin and Karen Stark. Featuring a sheer illusion yoke lies over a blush satin underlayer, edged in a scalloped lace that dips to the bust. The same lace appears in a V at the back, framed by a delicate keyhole bar. The skirt is two layers of knife pleated chiffon, finished with a floating, sheer hem. Fully lined interior with removable modestly panel at the bust.Ā Zips up the back with original metal zipper.Ā
This design appeared in an original Woodward & Lothrop advertisement, modeled by Sunny Hartnett and headlined "The Fashion Tempo U.S.A." The ad described the dress as "subtly provocative" and pointed to the dĆ©colletage in palest pink silk satin. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.Ā
