Sublime 1950s Black Virgin Wool Cocoon Coat with Dramatic Striped Lining. / M
👋 A B O U T
A dramatically cocooned 1950s coat cut from inky black virgin wool with a lush shawl collar and roomy patch-style side pockets. The construction is all volume and drape — wide, sloped shoulders taper into a generous, blanket-like body that wraps and swaddles the figure rather than following it, with three-quarter sleeves finished in simple tapered cuffs. The shawl collar rolls softly at the neck with no visible closure, meant to be held or pinned shut — shown here styled with a rhinestone crescent moon brooch. Inside, a striking surprise: a wide-striped satin lining in silvery grey, blue and black, adding a flash of glamour against the austere black wool exterior. A quintessential 1950s "swaddle" or cocoon silhouette — sculptural, minimal, and made for dramatic entrances. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
