 Iconic 1950's novelty print cotton dress, cut from the celebrated Millworth “Casbah” novelty print. The fabric — a vivid border print depicting minarets, domed mosques, camels, robed figures, and market vessels in pink, turquoise, olive, and blue on a black ground — is among the most recognizable of Millworth’s mid-century novelty textiles, prized today by collectors of vintage printed cotton. The dress itself is well-matched to the fabric: a draped and knotted V-neckline, cap sleeves, deeply nipped waist, and pointed basque front give way to a full gathered skirt that shows the border print to full advantage. Metal zipper at center back. In excellent condition, the print is bold and crisp.
