Absolutely stunning late 1950's midnight blue silk cocktail dress and jacket by high end designer Larry Aldrich. Featuring an elegantly structured body on a medium weight silk matelasse fabric. The jacket is fitted and lined in light blue crepe. Sold at the legendary John Doyle Bishop boutique. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. 

Larry Aldrich was born in Manhattan and entered the garment trade in 1924. He began making clothing in 1927 but didn't put his own name on labels until the 1940s. The Vintage Fashion Guild describes the line as stylish rather than fashion-forward. His clothing was made to demi-couture standards, and he sold through the Seventh Avenue system and department stores like Lord & Taylor.
