Ultra Chic 1960's Black Wool Coat By Originala / M
š A B O U T
A beautifully tailored, structured double-breasted coat in black wool, with a pointed collar, softly shaped shoulders, and a fitted waist that flares into a graceful A-line skirt. Black and gold-rimmed buttons close the front. A wide black leather belt fastens with a sculptural two-piece gold-tone buckle of monkeys swinging inside textured, vine-like circles. Fully lined in black satin. Excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.Ā
*About the label: Originala was a Seventh Avenue New York coat and suit house, founded in 1941 by brothers Nathan and Irving Bader. It was known for fine, timeless coats and was one of the most expensive coat lines of its day, averaging about $500 in the late 1960s. Marc Bohan, later of Dior, designed there in 1958, Ilie Wacs was head designer from 1964 to 1972, and Louis Dell'Olio worked there from 1971 to 1974.
