A landmark piece of Finnish modernism: a 1966 Marimekko maxi dress in Annika Rimala’s Keidas (Oasis) print, produced in Helsinki and labeled Marimekko / Suomi–Finland. Rimala designed Keidas in the mid-to-late 1960s, drawing directly from the era’s youth counterculture — its sprawling, amoebic forms are pure Op Art energy, the biomorphic shapes dissolving and reforming across the ground like a living organism viewed through a microscope. 

The silhouette is an A-line tent maxi with a high jewel neckline at the front and a deep V-opening at the back closing with fabric ties at the neck. The construction is clean and minimal: flat-felled seams, stitch-finished hem with topstitched detail lines at the base, and the fabric is handled with the unadorned confidence that defines Marimekko’s design philosophy — the print carries everything. Unlined. Made of 100% crisp mid-weight cotton. The scale of the print placement is deliberate and masterful, each panel cut to maximize the graphic impact of the repeat. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. A wearable work of art.
