Fabulous 1940's Sea Turtle Novelty Print Dress in Rayon / SM
đź‘‹ A B O U T
A fantastic example of late 1940s novelty print dressing, this short-sleeve rayon dress is printed in deep magenta with an allover sea turtle motif rendered in black and white — bold, graphic, and distinctly of its moment. The turtles are drawn in a stylized, almost totemic manner, filling the ground with dense pattern that reads as sophisticated rather than whimsical. The silhouette is quintessentially 1940s: padded shoulders, nipped waist, and a slim midi skirt with dramatic hip-level draping that fans out in a sculptural cascade on both sides — a construction detail that required real skill to execute. Notched neckline, short set-in sleeves, and a back metal zipper closure. Unlined, with the fluid drape of quality rayon throughout. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear!Â
