Glamorous 1950’s Sari Inspired Red & Gold Chiffon Party Dress | S
👋 A B O U T
A vibrant red party dress from the late 1950s, designed with a striking sari-inspired drape across one shoulder that falls into a sheer panel trailing down the back. The bodice is gently shirred at the asymmetric neckline, cinched with a slim self-belt at the waist, and gives way to a full, gathered chiffon skirt over crinoline support. Metallic gold florals border the hem and trace the drape itself, echoing traditional sari border work and adding shimmer with movement. By Elinor Gay, this is a wonderful example of how mid-century American sportswear designers drew on global textile traditions for evening glamour. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
