A showstopping confection of the late 1950s, this breathtaking party dress is executed entirely in fine crystal-pleated silk — that most technically demanding and visually arresting of mid-century fabrications — in a luminous, deeply saturated teal blue that calls to mind the sun-drenched waters of the French Riviera. 

The fitted bodice is cut with a clean, architectural neckline framed by broad, structured straps that sit elegantly at the shoulder. Scrolling floral lace appliqués are laid across the bodice and cascade onto the skirt in sweeping, asymmetric arrangements, with scattered rhinestone accents catching the light.

The interior of the bodice is fully boned, providing exceptional structure and support. 
The skirt flows from the waist in an extraordinary sweep of crystal-pleated organza, fully lined in a contrasting purple taffeta. The volume is spectacular, the pleated silk holding its form with effortless grace. Zips up the side with original metal zipper. I could not find a label but this was definitely a designer piece. In overall excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.

Condition: overall excellent, freshly cleaned and ready to wear. Minor signs of wear typical of age. A few small repairs made to the lace, I believe the rhinestones were added later. Faint stains that hide well in the folds are are only noticed upon close inspection. Wears and presents beautifully.
