Elegant Early 1960's Silk Brocade Evening Coat / SM
š A B O U T
Fabulous early 1960's custom made princess-seamed showstopper in taupe-champagne brocade, its surface alive with a subtle jacquard rose-and-leaf motif that catches the light as it moves. The fitted bodice tapers to a nipped waist with a curved seam and self-covered buttons, then releases into a long, floor-sweeping A-line skirt with a deep inverted back pleat for ease of movement.Ā
The wide notched collar frames the neckline beautifully, and the tailoring throughout ā princess seams, set-in sleeves, fully lined in silk ā speaks to serious dressmaker construction rather than off-the-rack production. This is the kind of piece made to be worn over a slim column gown, but would be fantastic over pants and a bustier top. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.Ā
