Fashioned in luxurious scarlet red velour, the hat is styled in an asymmetrical, close-fitting silhouette that perches elegantly to one side of the head—a hallmark of the late 1940s and early 1950s “tilt” hat trend. A dramatic pom of two-tone feathers in crimson and violet bursts from the side, adding dynamic movement and a touch of whimsy to its sleek architectural shape. 

Bernice Charles was known for her modern, sculptural approach to millinery, designing for fine department stores such as The Lindner Co. of Cleveland, whose exclusive label appears alongside hers.
