Rare 1950's Designer Carrie Munn Navy Silk Party Dress / Waist 27"
š A B O U T
Carrie Munn was a New York socialite and self taught seamstress who opened her first dress shop in New York in 1920's and a subsequent one on Madison Ave. in 1941. She offered American made couture gowns, dresses and suits during WWll and afterwards. Her designs were expensive and beautifully made, she often hosted her own fashion shows at the Waldorf Astoria. Can you image attending one of those events?!Ā
This midnight navy blue silk satin gown dates from the 1950's and is an excellent example of the kind of dress she was renowned for. Featuring a full skirt, nipped in waist and seductive neckline with slightly off the shoulder sleeves. "Every bodice is moulded close to the figure with a tiny waist". This piece is partially lined and zips up the back with original metal zipper. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. A wonderful opportunity to own a piece by this designer.Ā
