Rare 1948 Jacques Fath For Joseph Halpert Cocktail Dress / Medium

| /

🏷 A B O U T

Rare cocktail dress by one of the leading midcentury designer Jacques Fath. Considered one of the "big three" designers in Paris along with Christian Dior and Paul Balmain. Fath was known for his elegant inventive designs. His career was cut short by his untimely death in 1954 from Leukemia. According to an article by the Fit Fashion Museum, Fath designed one ready to wear collection for the US for Joseph Halpert in 1948. This dress is from the collection.

Constructed from a marvelous cotton brocade and featuring an alluring off the shoulder neckline accented with rhinestone buttons. The skirt is pleated and very full. The zipper has been place at the side of the back in order to not interrupt the lines. A grosgrain interior belt holds the waist in place.

In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
