A magnificent example of late 1920s evening elegance, this navy blue wool gabardine coat captures the era’s fascination with draped silhouettes and luxurious textural contrast. The coat’s design is both sculptural and fluid—featuring a wide, cartridge pleated shawl collar and deep cuffs painstakingly pleated into ribbed channels of wool, creating dramatic structure around the neckline and sleeves. The body of the coat falls in sweeping, kimono-like folds, tapering gently at the waist with two large, repoussé metal buttons that secure the front in a graceful wrap closure. A lustrous black silk lining adds a note of sophistication and ease against the skin, while a long fringe hem imbues the piece with a sense of movement reminiscent of the Jazz Age’s exuberant spirit.

This extraordinary coat is in excellent condition, and the silk interior is flawless. Extremely rare for a piece over a hundred years old. Freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
