Late 1920s Blue Violet Silk Chiffon Flapper Dress — R. Liebes & Co., Portland

A stunning example of Jazz Age glamour in a rich violet-blue silk chiffon. The illusion yoke neckline is densely hand-beaded in silver bugle beads and seed beads, worked into scrolling floral and leaf motifs and accented with faceted rhinestones and square-cut paste stones — the beading extends front and back with a dramatic scooped low back. The bodice falls into a dropped waist and flows into a bias-cut, handkerchief hem skirt with soft godet-like panels for movement, true to the dance-ready silhouette of the era. Fully lined in silk. Interior label reads “R. Liebes & Co., Portland, Ore.” — a well-regarded Pacific Northwest department store of the period. In very good condition, clean and ready to wear.

Condition:  very good overall with small signs of wear typical of age. A small hole in the back at the center of the back, along with some tiny pin holes on the bodice. Some dye transfer along the neckline from the beading. Wears and presents fabulously. The interior slip is excellent. Sturdy and very wearable. See close up pictures.
