This glamorous 30's/40's era little brown felt tilt hat perches forward on the head, its brim dipping low over one brow while a burst of ostrich feather erupts from the crown in loose, curling wisps. A fine brown fishnet veil sweeps down over the face, the kind of detail that turned a simple felt topper into something with real drama. The narrow self-fabric band with its small knotted bow is the only quiet moment on an otherwise wonderfully theatrical piece. A black grosgrain ribbon binds the interior edge, and the crown carries a maker’s stamp reading Merrimac Hat Corp. Excello. An elastic strap is worn under the hair to hold the hat in place.
