Gorgeous Czech Egyptian Revival Necklace Circa 1920-1930
đź‘‹ A B O U T
A gorgeous example of Egyptian Revival costume jewelry at its finest, this Art Deco necklace dates to the 1920s–1930s and channels the Tutmania that swept decorative arts following the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The gilt brass links are stamped with repeating fan and shell motifs, graduating toward a bold architectural centerpiece — a sunburst-framed pendant set with a deep burgundy glass cabochon and flanked by vivid turquoise green stones. Cobalt blue cabochons punctuate the chain at intervals, completing a palette lifted straight from an ancient tomb wall. The openwork construction and cast detailing point to Czech or French manufacture, both dominant suppliers of high-quality costume pieces to the department store trade in this period.Â
