An exquisite original 1920s flapper dress, finely hand-beaded on soft silk chiffon in a warm café au lait hue. This example embodies the height of Jazz Age eveningwear, with its straight, dropped-waist silhouette and intricate embellishment designed to shimmer in low light as the wearer moved.

The surface is lavishly decorated with vertical rows of tiny glass seed beads, elongating the figure, while the bodice and skirt are worked with stylized foliate and geometric motifs in silver beads, faceted graphite-like sequins, and thick silk thread embroidery. The delicate short sleeves are sheer and adorned to match, and the side of the dress features its original series of tiny snaps for closure—opening up at the side for easy getting into. Fully lined with a matching color interior. 

Fluid and unstructured in cut, this dress epitomizes the flapper’s rejection of corsetry and traditional shaping, designed instead to drape lightly over the body and come alive with movement. Likely intended for evening or cocktail wear, it would have caught the light of chandeliers and dance halls beautifully, making it both fashionable and daring.

 In very good condition considering age, sturdy enough for wear, beautiful enough for display.
