A gorgeous relic of the 1920s, this stunning drop-waist flapper dress is made from crimson devoré velvet in a baroque pattern, the pile burned away to leave a sheer chiffon ground. The velvet is paired with taupe semi sheer silk chiffon, finely hand-beaded in gunmetal glass. Beaded chiffon panels run down the center front and open over a sheer inset. Gathered hip sections flow into scalloped, free-moving skirt flaps over a layered hem, so the skirt swings and floats when you dance. The dress slips on over the head, with bound edges at the neck and armholes. Condition is remarkable for its age but with signs of wear. There are a few small, skillful hand repairs on the bodice. In overall good condition, wears and presents beautifully.
