An absolutely gorgeous 1940s swing coat in fine navy gabardine, cut with a smooth yoke and a full back that fans out as you walk. The yoke, shoulders and upper back are covered in scrolling soutache braid, hand-beaded along the edges with iridescent blue-black glass beads. The beading flashes peacock blue and violet in the light, and tone-on-tone embroidery fills the space between the scrolls. A scalloped yoke seam, a clean round neckline and a concealed front closure keep the lines simple. Wide, flared sleeves set on a dropped shoulder add to the swing. Deep slash pockets sit at the sides. The beaded shoulders make it an evening coat, wonderful over a cocktail dress. Meant to be worn loose and flowing from the shoulders. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
