A Garden of Pansies — “New Again” by Carolyn Carter, After Estevez

There’s something wonderful about a dressmaker’s homage done right, and this one is done right. Carolyn Carter’s “New Again” label reproduces a 1950s Estevez silhouette in a full-bloom pansy print that’s almost too charming to be believed — velvety purples, golds, blues, and crimson petals crowded edge to edge across crisp cotton. The bodice is fitted and sleeveless, cut with the kind of clean, confident lines Estevez was known for, while the back tells the real story: crossed straps meet at a soft bow, releasing a cascade of knife pleats that fall into a full, swingy train. Self fabric covered buttons up the back. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
