This gorgeous dress is masterfully constructed in a rich rosewood toned silk chiffon, its weightless layers catching light with an ethereal, luminous quality characteristic of the finest mid-century silk weaving. The skirt falls in soft, fluid godets to a graceful tea length, achieving the full, swirling silhouette so coveted in the late New Look transition period.
The fitted bodice is fashioned from ivory alencon lace over a tonal underlining, featuring a deeply romantic sweetheart neckline to a modest off-the-shoulder capelet sleeve. The scalloped lace edges at the sleeve hem and décolletage display the meticulous hand-finishing expected of I. Magnin’s discerning standards.
A wide ombre dusty rose silk cummerbund sash cinches the natural waist with artful ruching, bridging the ivory bodice and mauve skirt in a masterful tonal harmony — blush to mauve — that reflects the sophisticated color sensibility of the era. Zips up the side with original metal zipper and fully lined in rayon crepe.
