A stunning example of 1950s fashion in rayon crepe, dyed a saturated royal blue. The bodice is fitted through the waist with a wide scoop neckline cut asymmetrically at the neck and dolman-cut cap sleeves — a softer, draped alternative to the structured shoulders seen elsewhere in the decade. The full skirt is built in six graduated horizontal tiers, each finely sunburst-pleated for volume and movement, finishing at tea length and lined with a shimmering purple taffeta petticoat trimmed in a wide horsehair hem. 
Zips up the side with original metal zipper. Looks equally fabulous worn without a crinoline and a wide belt. 

Larry Aldrich was a well-regarded New York ready-to-wear house known for adapting Paris couture lines for the American market. His work was regularly featured in Vogue and worn by models including Dovima and Jean Patchett. 

In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.

Condition:  overall excellent, freshly cleaned and ready to wear. Minor signs of wear typical of age, a little bit of light fading and discoloration that is typical of this type of fabric, only noticed upon close inspection. A small smattering of light marks on the rear  side bottom of the hem- see provided close up picture. Wears and presents beautifully.
