1950s Joseph Magnin Black Silk Princess Coat

A showstopping 1950s princess coat in black silk shantung, cut with a nipped waist and a full, sweeping skirt. The fitted bodice has a notched collar and dramatic cuffs, all fastened with etched black buttons. The skirt is the star: rows of padded, wave-shaped trapunto over a full silk skirt, worked all the way around, front and back. It's lined throughout in rose pink taffeta, so the open front flashes pink against the black. A rare, sculptural piece from the New Look era, perfect over a cocktail dress or worn as a statement coat. In overall very good condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.

Condition:  Very good overall, with the exception of a couple repairs made to the front lapel and button hole, along with a couple repairs to the interior lining. The repairs hide well when the coat is buttoned and the interior repairs are not visible when worn. Wears and presents just like the pictures. Freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
