A stunning early 20th century- I'm guessing 30's or 40's? vermillion red silk ensemble embroidered with Chinese motifs — flowering branches, birds, butterflies, and scrolling vines worked in multicolor silk floss embroidery across the jacket front, back, and sleeves. The jacket closes with a mandarin collar and traditional frog closures along a cobalt-piped placket, with black satin appliqué panels at the collar and center front worked in gold couched thread and floral embroidery. Wide bell sleeves end in contrasting ivory silk cuffs bearing their own embroidered border. The hem is finished with a matching black embroidered border echoing the collar treatment. The high-waisted matching pants are cut in the same vermillion silk, finished with a fully adjustable drawstring waist and embroidered cuffs at the ankle that match the jacket. Interior of the jacket is lined in ivory silk.  In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
