Adorable 1970's Plain Jane 40's Inspired Two Piece Rayon Set / XS

Ā
An adorable 1970's take on 1940s fashion, made by a label with a legendary backstory: Plain Jane was founded in the mid-1960s by Susie Tompkins and Jane Tise as an amateur enterprise , selling homemade dresses out of a San Francisco storefront. Doug Tompkins joined as a partner, and the company was incorporated and renamed Esprit de Corp. in 1970Ā ā meaning this Plain Jane piece is a rare survivor from the labelās earliest chapter, before it grew into the global sportswear giant Esprit!!!Ā
The suit itself: a fitted jacket with nipped waist, peaked shoulders, and peplum hem ā a direct nod to wartime-era silhouettes ā with a wide, green-bound portrait collar and ruched front placket closing with mother-of-pearl flower buttons. Long sleeves finish in a pointed, buttoned cuff also trimmed in green. The A-line skirt has soft box pleats and a matching button-front closure. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.Ā
