A really hard piece for me to part with....A dramatic circa 1950's mesh-and-fringe bib necklace built on a flexible brass “book chain” collar — the flat, hinged rectangular links that give it that supple, almost fabric-like drape at the neckline. From the lower edge, staggered strands of faceted clear glass crystal beads cascade in graduated lengths, each strand ending in a larger faceted teardrop crystal for a chandelier-like fringe effect. Closes at the back with a brass spring-ring clasp. The brass shows an appropriately warm, aged patina consistent with age; crystals are clean and bright with good facet sparkle.
