An utterly romantic 1950s cocktail dress by Sophie Gimbel, the legendary designer behind Saks Fifth Avenue’s exclusive Salon Moderne. Sheer raspberry red silk chiffon forms an illusion neckline scattered with embroidered bow appliqués, finished with a ruffled chiffon trim at the collar. Cap sleeves continue the sheer chiffon, while the fitted bodice sits over a full, softly gathered skirt that moves beautifully. A fitted under skirt. Zips up the side with original metal zipper. Fully lined interior with grosgrain waist cincher.  A gorgeous example of Gimbel’s romantic, ladylike aesthetic, from a design house still highly sought after by collectors today. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
