This gorgeous 1950's demi couture cocktail dress from Isabell Gerhart features a fully boned bodice in horizontally ruched black silk taffeta, with a draped detail at the bust and a sheer floral lace illusion yoke and cap sleeves. The fitted skirt is taffeta overlaid with matching lace, finished with a scalloped lace hem. Zips up the back with original metal zipper and features interior hook-and-eye waist tape. In excellent condition, freshly cleaned and ready to wear. 

Isabell Gerhart, along with husband Norwin, ran a Houston couture salon known as the ultimate in luxury and service, with the couple regarded as the fashion king and queen of Houston  — their store on River Oaks Boulevard was a fixture for the city’s best-dressed clientele from the 1950s through the 60s. The store carried high end Parisian designers and also created custom couture pieces for their clients.
