This gorgeous 1950s Ceil Chapman cocktail dress is silk chiffon at its most stunning — a swirl of amethyst and pink blooms drifting across cream, with the fabric gathered and cinched at the waist into a soft, sculptural rosette that anchors the whole silhouette. Chapman’s signature draping is on full display here: the bodice gathers pull the eye down into that cinched waist, giving the dress its famous hourglass curve, while the cap sleeves and scooped square neckline keep things demure up top. The skirt falls into a slim sheath below the draped waist, with the floral chiffon layered over an inner lining for movement and body. Back zip closure, boned bodice construction typical of Chapman’s cocktail dresses of the era. A beautiful, wearable piece of 1950s American couture from one of the era’s most celebrated ready-to-wear designers. In very good condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
