A dreamy, romantic portrait brooch hand painted during the Art Nouveau era . A young woman with loose, dark, tumbling hair is painted on an oval porcelain plaque, her eyes lowered and her face tinted a soft blush. The misty sage-green ground is worked with a fine, painterly hand, and the piece is signed in the lower right. Prong-set in a warm, gilt-finished brass with a plain brass back and a pin-stem closure. At a full 3" tall, it makes a real statement on a lapel, collar, or coat.
