1920s I. Magnin & Co. Chocolate Straw Cloche Hat, Custom Made

A quintessential Jazz Age cloche in glossy chocolate-brown woven straw, its close, bell-shaped crown built for the bobbed-hair silhouette of the era. A wide grosgrain ribbon band wraps the base of the crown, gathered into a sculptural cockade of stacked box-pleated loops at the left side — a hallmark of 1920s millinery trim, achieving dimension through folded ribbon rather than applied ornament. The narrow, upturned brim is shaped asymmetrically, dipping low over one eye in the period's signature "eyebrow" tilt.

Labeled I. Magnin & Co., Custom Made, marking this as a higher-end retailer piece rather than mass-produced millinery. Interior finished in a warm taupe silk lining with drawstring closure at the crown.

In overall excellent condition, beautifully preserved for the past century.
