Rare late 1950's (1957 to be exact) black french lace cocktail dress with dropped waist and square neckline. Every thing about this piece screams Audrey Hepburn! Brought to me by a consignor who bought the dress at auction. Couture made with hand stitching and perfectly aligned lace, the dress bears a tag that says it's 1957 Givenchy and belonged to Jean Mersel who was a fashion designer in New York. Inside the dress there is a handwritten label that says Givenchy in bond 2/58. What does that mean? I dont really know. All I do know is the dress was custom made and looks like something that Givenchy's number one client and muse Audrey Hepburn would have worn.

The dress zips up the back with a metal zipper and has a semi sheer skirt and flounced hem in the back. The bodice is lined and there is a lot of interior seam allowance. In overall excellent condition, clean and ready to wear.

I have photographed the dress with a white petticoat underneath to showcase the lace pattern and fullness of the skirt, not included with purchase.
