A B O U T

Rare  early 1940s black wool wrap coat from Portland’s legendary Charles F. Berg, “the shop smart women prefer.” Tailored in luxurious Gramm Pedigreed Silver Fox wool, this elegant design features structured shoulders, a nipped waist with side tie, and a softly flared skirt. Union-made and fully lined, it’s a timeless piece of Pacific Northwest fashion history—both wearable and highly collectible.

The coat is designed with strong, squared shoulders and puffed sleeves—a hallmark of the decade—balanced by a nipped waist that ties at the side in a graceful bow. Its wrap-front construction closes cleanly across the body, lending a sleek, elongated line, while the gently flared skirt moves with understated drama. The absence of excess ornamentation heightens the sophisticated minimalism of its cut, though it pairs beautifully with a jeweled brooch, as styled here. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.

Brooch sold separately.
