A shimmering example of mid-century elegance, this exquisite Florence Lustig ensemble epitomizes the glamour of early 1960s cocktail dressing. Crafted in a luminous ice-blue silk faille, the set consists of a sleeveless cocktail dress and a coordinating evening coat, both richly embellished with hand-stitched iridescent sequins.

 The dress features a fitted bodice with a flattering scoop neckline, its surface densely adorned with sparkling sequins that get darker at the waist. A petite bow detail at the waist lends a feminine touch, while the back reveals a deep scoop neckline and a concealed zipper closure. The skirt is constructed with crisp pleats for graceful volume, underlined with netting for a structured silhouette.

 The matching coat is cut in a chic swing shape with short sleeves, designed to layer elegantly over the dress. Sequins cascade across the shoulders and upper bodice before dissolving into the body of the coat, catching the light with every movement. Fully lined in silk-like satin, the coat bears the Florence Lustig label—an American designer known in the 1940’s through the 60s for her refined special-occasion and evening wear, often marked by luxurious fabrics and couture-level detailing. Grace Kelly even modeled her clothing in a series of short films made in the 1940’s. If I could only find them!

Condition: very good overall and I would describe the dress as excellent with minor signs of wear. The coat has light staining on one of the sides in the back. See included close up pictures. We have dry cleaned and treated the stains to the best of our abilities. At this point they are noticeable upon close inspection and do not detract from the majesty of the ensemble :)
