Rare 1958 Christian Dior Black Silk Evening Dress Designed By Yves Saint Laurent / Medium
A B O U T
Created in 1958 for the Christian Dior-New York Inc. ready to wear line by Yves Saint Laurent. From the time of the CD-NY labels birth in 1948, the line was designed by Christian Dior and subsequent head designers. It wasn't until around 1962 that the line hired New York based designers to design for the line. So according to my research this dress was designed by a young Yves Saint Laurent around the time of his groundbreaking L'elephant Blanc collection. I can see clearly see his personal vision in this dress.
Composed of luxurious structured black silk satin twill and trimmed in embroidered tulle ruffles. Featuring a wrap front bodice accented by decorative bows. The interior of the dress includes an attached corset that holds the garment in place. Thin squared shoulder straps. Fully lined interior. Zips up the back with original metal zipper. In excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
A rare piece of fashion history, available here at Xtabay.
