Ultra rare artist piece possibly made by Japanese jewelry designer Kazuko. There are two labels present in this dress, one from Bergdorf Goodman date 1944, and another that says Fashions by Kazuko, Delray Beach Florida. After some internet sleuthing I suspect this was one of her earlier designs when she was using antique textiles to create dresses and veils. She went on to become a famous jewelry designer who's work was sold exclusively at Barney's in New York. She passed away in 2007. I am not sure if this dress is connected to her or not. It is a bit of a mystery. 

The dress is made of silk and features an added embroidered piece at the neckline. The magic is in the skirt which is composed of multiple layers of piano shawl fringe, 5 to be exact. The effect is stunning. Original metal zipper up the back. Freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear. A rare and collectable piece.
