A slim self-fabric belt closes with a covered button. Below it, two sculptural patch pockets curve over the hips. They are the kind of graphic detail Norell used in place of ornament, and they are both useful and striking. Wool jersey, then mostly a menswear and sportswear fabric, became one of his signatures. He won the first Coty American Fashion Critics' Award in 1943 and was the first designer inducted into the Coty Hall of Fame in 1958. He also received the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award.
